We are living in undoubtedly unprecedented times where we need mental health care. Our world seems to have turned upside down overnight. We’re watching our routines change, our mental health shift, and perhaps even our priorities changing. In light of everything going on, it’s important to make sure that you must have your mental health care above all else. With news sources delivering us information every which way and gossip circulating in our social circles, it can be hard to process all of this information in it of itself, let alone do it in a healthy way.
A call for keeping social distance can feel threatening. Perhaps it has even left some of us unsettled and grappling with feelings of loneliness. Traditional Video Chatting Apps – You can use Zoom, Google Meetups, or Skype and schedule meetings to hang out with loved ones and catch up with friends.
SOLUTION TWO
Take Care of Your Body & Set a Routine
Our physical health can directly translate to our mental health. We can all actively work to resist the urge to forgo our routine workouts and grab a snack that we know may not be so good for us. We are lucky to inhabit our bodies, and we should all pay a little bit extra attention to caring for them in a time when our health is so vulnerable. Plus, exercise will clear the mind and relieve stress, which we could all use right now. A great way to stay on a path of healthy choices is to set a routine.
Chances are, your routine looks different today than it did a month ago. That’s okay! It’s a beautiful thing to be able to adapt, and we have to remember that we are lucky in instances where we are able to do so.
Scheduling your day the night before and following a routine gives us the sense of structure that we all crave. Even for simple tasks such as making your bed and changing into a new outfit can be instrumental parts of our new routines that help for our mental health care.

SOLUTION THREE
Take a Break From Unnecessary Screen Time
Picking up the phone to check messages and apps can be a hard habit to break. It can be even harder if you are worried about loved ones or are concerned with missing important news.
Create a system with your most important people. They can call your landline instead of your cell phone. They can call you twice in a row or set their ring tone to something different so you can idetify calls to pick up rather than constantly checking for a touch.
You may not put down your phone all day, but maybe you can block out a couple hours to do this for yourself.
We are all in this together. We can take this time of social distancing to refocus ourselves, listen to our bodies, and maybe check something off of our bucket list. Keeping Social distance doesn’t mean a loss of social connection, but rather increased attention to non-physical forms of communication, which we can find to be just as meaningful!
