SOLUTION ONE

GoDaddy

Best for buying a domain when you have an idea and parking for cheap until you need someone to build your website.

The most used of the three options GoDaddy is the powerhouse of marketing their company (think Super Bowl ads). Because of these reasons many people who are just thinking of needing a website use GoDaddy to buy a domain and stay there because transferring a domain can be an undertaking. It is a good middle road option. Not overly technical so it is too hard to create a DIY site, and also not so low-tech that it will never show up in a search.

PROS

GoDaddy offers a website building platform called GoCentral to make the informational websites quick and easy to make. There are a lot of options for features that are really user-friendly to build a sophisticated site; PayPal abilities, social media integration, appointment booking, etc. As expected the more feature you need the higher the per monthly cost can be.

CONS

GoDaddy’s control panel is not always easy to navigate and there are a lot of advertisements on their pages that make it harder to narrow down your focus.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Customer service is very good. You can call for transferring a domain, to merge your email over to Microsoft Outlook, or help to get your PHP file size larger. They are also available 24/7 which is very helpful because you do not want to make major edits to a live site in the middle of the day when the most people are likely to be visiting your site.

SOLUTION TWO

An overview and analysis of Wix features and costs to see if this is the best solution for you

Wix

Wix is great for a DIY basic informational site that will always function as a basic informational site.

Wix is a very user-friendly total package for building a basic information site that will never need to be scaled up, grow larger or add more features.

PROS

It is a one-stop shop. You can buy a domain, easily build a website and host it all with Wix. You do not have to integrate WordPress or another outside company to start creating your site.

CONS

It is not very scalable. This can be great if you will always only need to let people know who works there, where you are located and other basic information. If you anticipate growing into e-commerce, uploading a lot of videos, etc. you might want to look at GoDaddy or Bluehost.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

Wix keeps their product in-house so the customer service representatives have full knowledge of the website builder, servers, hosting, etc. They may not have the highest caliber of technical knowledge, but if you are using Wix you probably will not need that.

TOTAL COST

BASIC $130/year*
PROFESSIONAL: $360/year*

BASIC: mainly contact and business information

PROFESSIONAL: includes emails, dedicated servers and the ability to include features like scheduling, countdown timers, social media integrations and more

SOLUTION THREE

An overview and analysis of Bluehost features and costs to see if this is the best solution for you

Bluehost

Bluehost is a great choice if you see yourself ever needing a website with a lot of features, add-ons, and large media files. Also if load times and SEO is a priority.

Bluehost is known for their hosting capabilities. When they started out they were using a platform called Weebly to offer people A drag and drop option to clients, but after Weebley went off on their own the quality and servicing of that program went downhill and now WordPress is the website building option for Bluehost customers.

WordPress is a great program that can be as easy or as complicated as you need it to be. In an attempt to compare it something, think of Facebook. You can open up an account and post pictures of your life and that’s all you ever do on it OR you can go into settings and customize everything then go further and then do even more tricks to have your post be seen in more places.

PROS

Bluehost is known for their great hosting. This means that when your website goes live it will stay live and it will run as fast as you are willing to pay for it load. They are also great at server maintenance. Servers are like cars, they need to be serviced. Bluehost is great at maintaining their servers and keeping your website from crashing.

CONS

Without a drag and drop system on hand, you will have to add learning WordPress to your to-do list. This is a very common website platform and good news is if you start there it will be easy to build from.

CUSTOMER SERVICE

The customer service is on the way back up. There was a time when Bluehost tried to have so many departments available all the time that they outsourced their customer service department and you could be on the phone for an hour and not get an answer out of someone.

They have brought the customer service back but you may need to call more than once. Since they offer so many things you may not always get the person on the line that can best answer your question. If you are lucky the next person will be able to.
